Hey guys! September has been a great month for the State FFA Officers! We we really dove into our chapter visits in September and have had a great time visiting you all across Tennessee!
The highlight of September was The TN State Fair. We started out at the fair with the State Ham Breakfast. There was a bidding for the State Winning Hams. The bid reached $4,200 and the proceeds from the sale goes to helping students attend TN FFA Leadership Camp at Camp Clements.
After the Ham Breakfast, we proceeded to assist with the State Career Development Events such as Horse Evaluation and Dairy Judging. The CDE that I helped with was Livestock Judging. I assisted in handing out the test for the competitors to take and also helped in giving directions to the competitors. We had a lot of fun with the students.
Then I got to help with the Legislator Showdown, which is where different TN legislators would come to the State Fair and participate in showing a sheep. My job was to teach and help the legislators while they showed their sheep. It was a great event and one that helped raise awareness about agriculture to such an urbanized community. The event was televised to let everyone see it.
That sums up our September activities! We are having a great time as State Officers and are anxious for National FFA Convention! We can’t wait to see even more of you at chapter visits and hope that you all are having fun as members of Tennessee FFA! See you soon!
