Wednesday's tour showcased the many industries connected to agriculture and the people who help tell its story. Presented by Farm Credit Mid-America, the day began at RFD-TV, where the State Stars experienced agricultural broadcasting and learned how the network shares rural stories with audiences across the nation. They then visited Light Hill Meats to see how a family-owned processing business has created a successful farm-to-consumer model while supporting local livestock producers. At Old Stone Creamery, the group visited the nation's oldest continuously milking Jersey herd and learned how generations of dairy farmers continue to preserve Tennessee's dairy heritage. The afternoon concluded at Tennessee Equine Hospital, where the Stars explored careers in equine veterinary medicine and the advanced care provided to horses throughout the Southeast. The day concluded with a stop at United Co-op in Franklin, where the State Stars enjoyed shopping while experiencing the cooperative way of doing business and the important role farmer-owned cooperatives play in supporting Tennessee agriculture.
