BRIGHTON FFA WINS OUTSTANDING CHAPTER AWARD AT STATE CAMP

DOYLE, TN – The Brighton Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter of Tipton County was named Outstanding Chapter at Camp Clements Leadership Training Camp on June 26, 2015. More than 200 students, advisors and guests attended what was the fourth of six weeks of Leadership Training Camp offered to the Tennessee FFA Association. 

Chapter officer teams must be active in officer classes, public speaking classes, the rifle range, an extemporaneous public speaking contest, a camp-wide quiz bowl contest, various sporting events, and have a large sum of their members qualify for the gold leadership award to be considered for the Outstanding Chapter Award. Brighton FFA was in competition with 14 other FFA chapters who also attended camp. 

In addition to winning Outstanding Chapter, Brighton took home first place in the Quiz Bowl and member Madison Johnson won the Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest, which tests students’ ability to deliver a brief speech based on relevant agricultural issues. 

The Brighton FFA officers are: Conlee Lea, Gabby Cooper, Nathan Fisackerly, Grant Hunter, Madison Johnson, MarySelle Lea, Cheyenne McNair, Ashton Quarles, Kelley Ann Rice, Emily Schneider, and Taylor Scott. 

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Nationally, there are 610,240 FFA members, aged 12-21. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of more than 13,000 members from 214 high school chapters, seven middle school chapters, and eight collegiate chapters across the state of Tennessee.
