COOKEVILLE, TN – Sweetwater, Tennessee native and former Tennessee FFA State Officer Jessie Campbell has been named the new Development Coordinator for the Tennessee FFA Foundation, Inc. Campbell joined the Foundation staff October 5th and works directly under Executive Director Chelsea Rose. In this full-time role, Jessie will assist with fundraising, program planning and stewardship.
“Jessie brings a strong combination of poise, professionalism and passion to the Foundation that will serve the students, stakeholders and sponsors well,” Rose said. The Foundation is a private, non-profit based in Cookeville, TN that was founded in 1983. The mission of the Foundation is to promote the best interests of students and those involved in agricultural education/FFA in Tennessee in order to enhance opportunities that will enable every FFA member to reach their maximum potential as productive citizens.
Campbell began her involvement with FFA in 2008 as member of the Sweetwater High School FFA Chapter. Jessie was Chapter President, Regional Secretary and East TN State Vice President. Along with her leadership roles, Jessie won the Tennessee State Proficiency Award in Agriscience Plant Systems Research and was the 2012 National FFA runner-up in the Job Interview CDE. Her advisors were Kathryn Ingram, Mitch Ingram and Don Layman.
Finishing in three years, Campbell earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in plant science, Cum Laude, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. During college, Campbell gained experience and knowledge working for the East Tennessee Plant Science Research Center and Tennessee Extension Evaluation and Staff Development.
“The Foundation represents a strong passion for agricultural education, Tennessee agriculture and Tennessee FFA members.” Campbell said. “I cannot think of a better job than assisting donors, students, foundation board members, and alumni in my new role.”
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Nationally, there are 629,367 FFA members, aged 12-21. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of 14,084 members from 214 high school chapters, 7 middle school chapters, and 8 collegiate chapters across the state of Tennessee.
