NASHVILLE, TN – For the 16th consecutive year, Tennessee FFA and 4-H have been given equal shares of the proceeds from the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative’s highly popular commemorative 4-H/FFA Case pocketknife collection. A record number, 3,600 pocketknives, were sold, raising $36,200 to be split between the two youth organizations.
During the 2016 Tennessee Farmers Cooperative Annual Meeting held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, Mackenzie Clark, Tennessee FFA State President and 4-H State Council President Ethan Harvill accepted the check on behalf of their respective associations.
Clark spoke about Tennessee FFA being rich in tradition. “This knife is a tradition and has built traditions,” said Clark. “Thank you for supporting Tennessee FFA and the over 14,000 members who cherish those memories and traditions as well.”
Sponsored by TFC in cooperation with W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery Co., the 2016 knife features a Trapper Design with a custom Co-op shield, along with the FFA and 4-H emblems etched into the handle.
When two companies come together with a shared passion, a difference can be made. There is proof in that as every year, TFC and W.R. Case sell a record number of 4-H/FFA Case pocketknives, all with the goal to make a difference in Tennessee youth. The funds raised through this program go toward providing scholarships, conventions and awards to Tennessee FFA members from across the state.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Nationally, there are 629,367 FFA members, aged 12-21. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of 14,084 members from 214 high school chapters, 7 middle school chapters, and 8 collegiate chapters across the state of Tennessee.
