TENNESSEE FFA MEMBERS HOST A DIGITAL LITERACY WORKSHOP

Jan 24, 2017

SPARTA, TN – White County FFA and AT&T Tennessee hosted a “Digital You” workshop at the newly renovated White County Career Academy on Monday, January 23, 2017. “Digital You” is an initiative established to provide tools and resources for people of all ages to learn more about online security and technology.

White County FFA members and their advisor Charles Cooper recently visited AT&T headquarters in Nashville to learn how to implement “Digital You” in their community. In their first workshop, over 20 seniors from various clubs and groups came to the school to learn how to navigate innovative technology on smart phone and tablet devices. Also in attendance were State Representative Paul Sherrell, a former FFA member, and Senator Paul Bailey, both graduates of White County High School.

White County FFA Reporter Kennedy Selby led the informational workshop, teaching senior community members how to work the navigation, weather and facetiming applications on school iPads, in addition to searching the internet and sending emails. FFA members Libby La Fever, Natalie Goodwin and Eli McDonald worked the room, answering questions and assisting the participants in the workshop.

White County FFA members will host a minimum of six workshops during 2017. They hope to garner more support and attendance with every scheduled event. Their next “Digital You” workshop is scheduled for February 2, 2017 at the White County Rotary Club meeting in Sparta.
