MUNFORD FFA WINS OUTSTANDING CHAPTER AT STATE FFA CAMP

DOYLE, TN — The Munford Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter of Tipton County was named Outstanding Chapter at Camp Clements Leadership Training Camp on July 22, 2016. More than 200 students, advisors and guests attended what was the seventh and final week of Leadership Training Camp offered to the Tennessee FFA Association.

Chapter officer teams must be active in officer classes, public speaking classes, the rifle range, an Extemporaneous Public Speaking contest, a camp-wide Quiz Bowl contest, various sporting events, and have a large sum of their members qualify for the gold leadership award to be considered for the Outstanding Chapter Award.

The Munford FFA Chapter took home honors including: Hot Shot at the Rifle Range, Sierra Shulz; second place in Quiz Bowl, Jackson Arthur, Emily Russell, Kelsey Max and Abigail McConnell; and sixth place in Quiz Contest, Sierra Shulz. They were awarded numerous outstanding bronze, silver and gold leadership awards, as well as Best Sports and Best Athletes. 

The Munford FFA Officers for Camp Clements are: President, Cody Smith; Vice-President, Emily Russell; Secretary, Jackson Arthur; Treasurer, Kelsey Max; Reporter, Abigail McConnell; Sentinel, Madison Gray. The chapter’s advisors are: Bill Newsom, Glenn Goulder, Ann Johnson, Missy Hammond and Jeremy Fair.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Nationally, there are 629,367 FFA members, aged 12-21. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of 14,084 members from 214 high school chapters, 7 middle school chapters, and 8 collegiate chapters across the state of Tennessee.
