Nashville, TN – Governor Bill Haslam and the 108th Tennessee General Assembly have, for the eighth year, awarded $250,000 to both the Tennessee Future Farmers of America (FFA) Foundation, Inc. and the Tennessee 4-H Foundation, Inc. Earlier this month, the Tennessee FFA State Officer Team, along with FFA Foundation Chairman, Dr. Ben Byler, visited Governor Haslam to thank both the Governor and Commissioner of Agriculture, Julius Johnson, for their support of each of these worthwhile youth organizations.
“Agricultural education prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber and natural resources systems. This grant money allows FFA to support that mission,” said Chairman Byler, “Governor Haslam has demonstrated a commitment to agriculture and FFA in Tennessee. His commitment is most appreciated.”
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Nationally, there are 579,678 FFA members, aged 12-21. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of 13,644 members from 213 high school chapters, seven middle school chapters and eight collegiate chapters across the state of Tennessee.
