CUMBERLAND COUNTY FFA WINS OUTSTANDING CHAPTER AT STATE FFA CAMP

DOYLE, TN — The Cumberland County Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter of Cumber-land County was named Outstanding Chapter at Camp Clements Leadership Training Camp on July 8, 2016. More than 200 students, advisors and guests attended what was the sixth of seven weeks of Leadership Training Camp offered to the Tennessee FFA Association. 

Chapter officer teams must be active in officer classes, public speaking classes, the rifle range, an Extemporaneous Public Speaking contest, a camp-wide Quiz Bowl contest, various sporting events, and have a large sum of their members qualify for the gold leadership award to be con-sidered for the Outstanding Chapter Award. 

The Cumberland County FFA Chapter took home honors including first place in Extemporane-ous Public Speaking, Nick Carpenter; fourth place in Quiz Bowl, Cole Aric, Ty Davis, Nick Car-penter and Dakota Randolph; and second place in Quiz Contest, Cole Aric. They were awarded numerous outstanding bronze, silver and gold leadership awards, as well as Best Sports and Best Athletes. 

The Cumberland County FFA Officers for Week Six of camp are: President, Nick Carpenter; Vice-President, Brianah Castleberry; Secretary, Sarah Buckner; Treasurer, Julia Hively; Re-porter, Sarah Essex; and Sentinel, Cole Aric. The chapter’s advisors are Terra Davis and Jason Atkinson. 

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Nationally, there are 629,367 FFA members, aged 12-21. The Tennessee FFA Association is comprised of 14,084 members from 214 high school chapters, 7 middle school chapters, and 8 collegiate chapters across the state of Tennessee.
