The 2023 Horse Evaluation Career Development Event was held November 14, 2023 at Middle Tennessee State University's Miller Coliseum. 74 high school FFA chapters and 6 middle school chapters competed in the event. 392 total FFA members competed in the event, including alternates. The Horse Evaluation Career Development Event is sponsored by CB Trucking, Morning Pointe Senior Living, and TwelveStone Health Partners. A new feature of the contest is the "traveling trophy" presented to the winning team for that year. The Horse Evaluation Championship Trophy is sponsored by Paul and Amy Bailey. Woodbury FFA took home the trophy and the title of first place, followed by Lincoln County FFA. Olivia Breeden of Jefferson County FFA was the overall High Individual. In the Middle School division, Middle Tennessee Ag Academy placed first followed by Page Middle FFA. Grace Spooner of Middle Tennessee Ag Academy was the Middle School overall High Individual.
