Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools - 2 Openings
Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) located in Nashville, TN has two vacancies for high school agriculture education teachers. Applicants must hold or be eligible for a Tennessee teaching license. These are 12 month positions and the teachers will be expected to advise an FFA Chapter, ensure student SAEs are in place, train students for Career Development Events, attend conferences/conventions, and take students to summer leadership camp. MNPS has adopted the Career Academy model where all students in our zoned high schools are members of a career academy. Teachers will be part of an interdisciplinary team and expected to participate in common team planning, participate in teacher externship programs, and provide project based learning opportunities for all students. A brief description of each position is provided below:
Alternative Energy - The teacher for this program will be responsible for teaching agriculture in the context of alternative energy. The facilities for use include a classroom with computer lab, alternative energy laboratory (with a mobile demonstration trailer), and greenhouse. The teacher will be expected to teach CASE Curriculum for Intro to AFNR and Principles of Agricultural Science (Plant) and the district will pay for certification. Experience with alternative fuels and FFA is desired.
Animal & Plant Biotechnology - The teacher for this program will be responsible for teaching animal and plant biotechnology. The facilities that will include a classroom with computer lab, a greenhouse, and a biotechnology lab. The teacher will be expected to teach CASE Curriculum for Intro to AFNR, Principles of Agricultural Science (Plant), Principles of Agricultural Science (Animal), and Animal & Plant Biotechnology and the district will pay for this certification. Experience with biotechnology and FFA is desired.
